The Winning Strategy Gameweek 24 Wild Card

Vorm Out and Speroni In - frees up a bit of cash on the spare goalkeeper. Szcsesney is the highest scoring keeper and he stays.

Coleman Out and Baines In. Coleman is injured. Baines is a similar scorer although his offensive points seem to have dried up a bit since he was injured. The other defenders stay (Zabaleta, Azpilicueta, Walker and Shaw).

No change in midfield. Hazard and Lallana are in the top 3 scorers, only Yaya Toure is better. Mata would have been a good move but he is too expensive. Morrison, Janusaj and Bentaleb are cheap fillers in the side.

Lukaku and Remi Out and Negredo and Rodriguez in. Lukaku is injured and Remi is suspendended and disappointing. Negredo has been increasingly effective and Rodriguez is a good price.

Probably all to no avail.

Azpilicueta drops to the bench as Chelsea are away at Man City and I fear the worst. Shaw comes in as Southampton are playing Fulham. He is joined by Morrison and Bentaleb. Suarez stays as captain.

No suitable striker signings and so Carlton Cole comes in to replace the injured Lukaku.

48 points against an average of 52. A drop from 630916 to 689842. Not as low as it has been.

Significant scores from Lallana with a goal, Azpilicueta with a clean sheet and captain Suarez with a goal and an assist. Pretty poor otherwise especially Remi who got minus one. Missed out on an assist from Shaw.

With Lukaku and Coleman injured and Remi suspended plus a number of disappointing underachievers, the wild card is becoming very attractive. The question is whether I can fit all the players I want in. And will Aguero be fit to partner Suarez?

34 points against an average of 52. Significant contributions only from captain Mata and from Sturridge plus an assist for Borini. Wrong goalkeeper again. Ruddy would have scored 9 as opposed to Foster's zero.

Dropped from 2206454 to 2270561. Lowest position so far.

Lukaku is now out indefinitely. So is Johnson. But Huth may return soon. Lukaku needs to be replaced by either Anelka or Carlton Cole unless someone else is signed by a premiership club e.g. Kalou.

No changes this week. Tempted by the wildcard but decided to give the lads another chance.

The obvious signing is Juan Mata. The only decision is who to lose. As Joe Allen is the most doubtful midfield player then out he goes.

Mata is captain. The injured Huth is on the bench with the interloper Baines. They are joined by Parker. Borini stays in the starting line up.

The Winning Strategy Gameweek 22 undoing the good work

47 points against a weekly average of 45 may look acceptable, but it still resulted in a fall in the overall standings from 604,343 to 630,916. A disappointment.

Points contributed by Szczesny with a clean sheet, Walker, Lukaku and captain Suarez with assists and at last a goal from Remy. Everyone else got 2 points or 1.

Real Wrexhamcelery Gameweek 22 slipping down again

37 points against the weekly average of 45. Dropping from 2,186,758 to 2,206,454. Normal service has been resumed.

The brightest point was a goal for Borini justifying his retention. There was also a goal for Sturridge and an assist for captain Lukaku. Apart from that it was woeful. And made worse by Ruddy's clean sheet while he was on the bench while a restored Foster conceded. Bertrand managed to score zero points, but at least he was there.

The Winning Strategy for Gameweek 22

Out go the injured Barclay and the disappointing Henderson. The equalling disappointing Remy gets another chance.

In come Lallana, the highest points scoring midfielder I could afford and Bentaleb, the wild card youngster who seems to be in favour at Spurs. I thought about Sidwell, the next highest scorer I could afford, but Fulham are struggling. Another candidate was Huddlestone, but Hull don't score many. I would have liked Wilshere but he was just too expensive.

Bentaleb, Shaw and Morrison are on the bench. Suarez stays as captain.

Finally some movement on the defender transfer front means that I can remove Patrice Evra, one of the non Chelsea or Wrexham interlopers and replace him with Ryan Bertrand on loan at Villa. He goes straight into the team which means I can drop the injured Robert Huth to the bench alongside the remaining interloper Leighton Baines.

I have also brought Joe Allen back into the squad in place of poor old Scott Sinclair who is not getting a game at WBA. I could have brought Carlton Cole back in for Fabio Borini, but Borini has to score soon, and Cole is too erratic.  I'll probably end up kicking myself.

Parker stays on the bench. Lukaku stays as captain.

The Winning Strategy in Gameweek 21 a modest success

A third consecutive movement up the overall standings from 611,569 to 604,343 comes as a result of getting 67 points against a weekly average of 57. 26 of those were due to captain Suarez with his two goals. Hazard provided another goal. Azpilicueta, Zabaleta and Coleman had clean sheets. Lukaku had an assist.

Barclay is now out for a while and needs to be replaced. So does Henderson because since he came into the squad he has done little and with Gerrard returning for Liverpool, he is liable to be played out of position again. Looking for 2 midfield players for around £13m the pair. And after that Remy, unless something dramatic happens.

Real Wrexhamcelery in Gameweek 21 a little above average

60 points against a weekly average of 57 is a terrific result especially as it was done with only 10 players participating. A second rise in the overall standings in 2 weeks, now up to 2,186,758 from 2,245,766. Goals from Sidwell, Walters and Sturridge, who also got an assist. Plus a clean sheets and an assist each for the interlopers Baines and Evra. Plus an assist for captain Lukaku meant a great performance. It would have been better still if I had preferred Carlton Cole to Borini. Cole presents an ongoing problem. West Ham are still struggling and so how many goals will he get, especially with Andy Carroll returning to fitness. But the same could be said of Borini at Sunderland. Joe Cole and Scott Sinclair are also not playing regularly. Should I bring back Damien Duff who looks like a better prospect for points than Victor Moses. I could really do with Joe Allen being fit for Liverpool. And I still await any transfer movement.

No changes in the squad this week. Remy and Lukaku are on borrowed time.

Barclay drops to the bench as he is doubtful. Walker comes into a back 4 as Spurs play Palace. Also on the bench are Shaw and Morrison.

Suarez is captain.

There have been no real life transfers that give any wider selection despite rumours about Bertrand, Mancienne, Essien and Kalou. However Sturridge is available again. The choice was whether to drop Carlton Cole or Borini. The fact that Cole is at West Ham who are on the biggest downward spiral in the league means that I have preferred Borini. He keeps his place although Anelka was also available, but as Sunderland are against Fulham Borini seemed a better bet rather than Anelka for WBA against Southampton.

The defence remains the same except that this time I have remembered to put Foster in goal ahead of Ruddy.

I'm going for 3 upfront (Sturridge, Lukaku and Borini) which means one of the midfield players is on the bench and it is Joe Cole. Which means Parker, Sinclair, Sidwell and Walters start. The alternative, which Joe Allen injured would be Damien Duff but would mean 3 Fulham players who are not likely to all start.

Lukaku is captain in case Sturridge does not start.

The Winning Strategy Gameweek 20 the modest recovery continues

45 points against a weekly average of 39 means a small overall rise from 627,174 to 611,569 and is encouraging because it is the second week in a row that the team has gone up the table.

Major contributions from clean sheets for Szczesny and Azpilicueta, assists from Janusaj and Hazard, and a goal from captain Suarez.

It's too soon to think about transfers before gameweek 21 which is in 2 weeks. Having said that, Lukaku is looking vulnerable, as are Henderson and Remy.

Real Wrexhamcelery Gameweek 20 a little respite and a stupid mistake

38 points against a weekly average of 39 unexpectedly means an overall improvement from 2,253,783 to 2,245,766. This could have been even better if the schoolboy error of overlooking the replacement of the goalkeeper, Ruddy of Norwich with Foster of West Brom, meant that the team missed out on 7 points. It just goes to show that you have to check every detail. I knew who I wanted in goal, but I didn't make sure.

As it turned out the points came from a goal from Sidwell, and one from interloper Baines, and an assist from Parker.

Gameweek 21 is not for 2 weeks because of the FA Cup so there is plenty of time for transfer activity in real life as well as Fantasy Football.
